Gurnards Head Pub | Little Barn Goldsithney

The Little Barn self catering accommodation / holiday let, Goldsithney, is positioned close to many local pubs and restaurants in Cornwall. Here are a few suggestions:

The Falmouth Packet Inn
Rosudgeon, Penzance, Cornwall TR20 9QE. Telephone 01736 762240

Just a short stroll down Packet Lane lies the Falmouth Packet. With top quality locally sourced produce mostly from the owner’s own Farm and fantastic local Penzance Ales make the Packet a great place for a meal. However this is set out more as restaurant than a pub so less welcoming if you just want a couple of pints and a bag of crisps. There is also a beer garden at the rear. Booking Evenings and Sundays Is recommended as it gets very busy.

The Crown Inn
Fore Street, Goldsithney, Penzance, Cornwall TR20 9LG. Telephone 01736 710494
Link

A very frendly local pub with good beers (St Austell Ales) and a decent selection of very reasonably priced pub grub. Perfect for a quiet pint or two or a full Sunday roast.

The White Hart Inn
Churchtown, Ludgvan, Penzance, Cornwall TR20 8EY. Telephone 01736 740574
Website

It’s definitely worth heading up to Ludgvan for this great little pub. Loads of character, very friendly staff, Skinners Ales and a nice range of daily food specials. Do say hello to Hamish the pub dog, he is gorgeous!

The Victoria Inn
Peranuthnoe, Penzance, Cornwall TR20 9NP. Telephone 0871 223 8000
Website

Just a couple of miles away in the lovely little village of Perranuthnoe The Victoria Inn has won numerous awards for its food. It’s hugely popular especially at weekends so booking is recommended. Like the Falmouth Packet it is primarily a food pub so less suitable for a casual lunchtime pint.

Further Afield

The Gurnards Head
Nr Zennor, St. Ives, Cornwall TR26 3DE. Telephone 01736 796928
Website

This gastro pub is an absolute gem, it retains a lovely log fire welcome and seems equally at home with dog walkers, ramblers and those in search of a fine food experience.  Set against the remote and magical west Cornish coastline yet within 15 minutes of Penzance and St Ives. The food at the Gurnards is not cheap but it is one of the best places I have ever eaten in Cornwall. Menu items include the like of Mascarpone, almond & roasted garlic risotto, Oxtail ravioli, beef consommé, spring greens with horseradish butter and Chocolate torte with a blood orange granita. It’s popular so do book in advance. Our advice is take a long walk in this amazing part of the world and then spoil yourself to a big lunch!

The Halzephron Inn
Gunwalloe, Helston, Cornwall TR12 7QB. Telephone 01326 240406
Website

Another Award Winning Pub (all be it in 2005) set in the beautiful surroundings of Gunwalloe on the Lizard peninsula. Stories abound about this 500 year old inn and its association with local smugglers. The reality is an atmospheric Cornish pub with good beer and reasonable food. At busy times the service can be a little slow but it’s a great place to sit with a beer and soak up the atmosphere.
